Who are the people behind Interlink? What is its history? Interlink is owned and operated by Dave and Dixie Obee. It was founded by Sherry Irvine in 1988 in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Interlink had a retail outlet from 1988 until 2001, when we decided to concentrate on Internet and mail orders as well as conferences. Interlink is one of the oldest genealogy retailers in Canada -- but our roots go even deeper than that. In 2000, we acquired Genealogy Unlimited of Orem, Utah, which had been founded in Illinois in 1974. How long should it take my order to arrive? That depends on where you are, and whether the item you have ordered is in stock. We keep on hand the vast majority of what we sell -- the major exceptions are some large map series that have thousands of maps. In those cases, we bring them in from our supplier as they are ordered. We indicate these items on our web site. We send orders as soon as we possibly can. Delivery time varies. In Canada or the United States, it will generally be about a week after they go in the mail, but that may stretch to two weeks in some cases. What is the cost of delivery? Please go to our ordering page for the full information. I am in the United States. You're in Canada. How do I pay? The easiest way is to use Mastercard or Visa -- your bank will convert the Canadian amount into U.S. currency for you. You can also pay by check -- just let us know what you'd like to order, and we'll provide the total. Checks should be made payable to Interlink Bookshop. Is it difficult or costly to have books or maps mailed to the United States from Canada? No. They are printed materials, so they should glide through U.S. customs without any delay. I need a map but I'm not sure what I should get. Do you have any advice? Certainly -- we've got a page devoted to that. Go to Dave Obee's summary about using maps. Is it possible put a link to Interlink on my web page? Sure! We would appreciate it. Just copy and paste the following html code into your own web page: Does Interlink provide gift certificates? Certainly -- simply let us know the amount, and the name of the recipient, and we will print one for you. We would like to see an Interlink display at our conference. How far from home do you travel? Well, we've been to six states and five provinces in the past few years -- and we will consider a request from anywhere in North America if we can work it into our schedule. |
